Welcome

Beautiful Thassos, the jewel of Macedonia, and its inhabitants welcome you to this website.

Thassos is the northern-most island in Greece and lies just opposite Kavala. The distance separating it from Kavala and Keramoti on the mainland is 12 and 6 miles, respectively. The island is accessible by ferry whose schedule, particularly during the tourist season, is as regular as urban transport in the cities. Ferryboats run every 30 minutes during the tourist season and every hour during the rest of the year.

Thassos may well be the most verdant island in Greece, with pines growing right next to the water and stretching to the top of Mount Ypsari. The beaches are pristine and covered with golden sand. Its inhabitants are very hospitable and ready to welcome you to their modern and luxurious accommodations. Thassos got its name from Europa's brother. Thasus came to the island as he wandered far and wide in search of his sister, Europa, who had been abducted by Zeus.

When he and his companions landed in Thassos, he was bewitched by its beauty and decided to stay here for ever. He became its first king and gave the island his name. Thassos has a rich history and culture. The ancient theatre, one of the best to survive to the present day, annually hosts the Thassos festival featuring theatrical and musical events. Over the last few decades, Thassos has developed into a cosmopolitan island and welcomes visitors from every corner of the world. Those who know it come again and again, bringing friends along. Accommodation, food and entertainment are available at a wide price range and visitors can choose to have a holiday with a lively nightlife, or opt for a quiet and relaxing stay. The completion of the Egnatia Odos motorway has brought Thassos closer to all of Greece. The distance from Thessaloniki to the ferry launch is now a mere 1:30 or 1:45 hours, and about 5:30-6 hours from Athens. The flight from Athens to Kavala Airport takes just 45-50 minutes.

We invite you to come and get to know its beauty and to experience memorable moments that will stay with you all the rest of the year, beckoning you to return again and again.
